Virtual reality (VR) is effective in nursing education. In this study, we created a VR patient encounter practice for nursing students. We measured students’ self-efficacy, motivation, user experience, and behavioral intention. The results show that students’ self-efficacy increased significantly, and they maintained high motivation to use the VR practice. They were overall satisfied with the VR practice but had varied perceptions in specific dimensions, such as the usefulness of the VR system.
