32. Inclusive AI Education for High School Students: Bridging the Gap for Underserved Populations

Sun, Oct 15, 4:15 to 5:45pm EDT (4:15 to 5:45pm EDT), Doubletree Main Conference Center - Seminole, Seminole Ballroom

Short Description

This study uses descriptive analysis to examine how underserved students in STEM experienced an Artificial Intelligence (AI) curriculum that was implemented in English Language Arts classrooms. The study shows that after the intervention, Latina students, who are underrepresented in STEM, are significantly more interested in learning about AI than Latino students. The study adds to the growing body of literature that recognizes the intersectionality of STEM education in addressing the disparities faced by underserved students.
