78. Exploring the Limited Presence of Historically Marginalized Groups in OER Used at a Midwestern University

Sun, Oct 15, 4:15 to 5:45pm EDT (4:15 to 5:45pm EDT), Doubletree Main Conference Center - Seminole, Seminole Ballroom

Short Description

Despite its role for expanding equity in higher education, the presence of historically marginalized groups within OER continues to mirror traditional textbooks by underrepresenting their presence in the greater narrative of American culture. Thusly, the proposed research seeks to discover how much representation these populations receive in academic discussions within open content and what steps instructors are taking to ensure that diverse views are being represented within their classrooms.
