The professional identity formation process is blurred by the lived experiences of the individual—a universal truth that applies to me, a first-generation Asian immigrant. However, using Asian Critical Race Theory (AsianCrit) to frame an autoethnographic self-reflection revealed an imperfect fit to capture my perspective. Research suggests that AsianCrit has two extremes in Asian experiences. This poster presents that it is not a general framework, but specific to the traditional Asian upbringing contradictory to American values.
