Short Description

We will present data collected May-June 2023 to understand and describe how university students are experiencing social annotation tools that allow them to interact with their course readings and meaningfully engage with their peers online differently than in the past with online discussion boards. We will share our research findings, including students’ perceptions of social annotation tools in online asynchronous modalities and how such tools encouraged or discouraged students to achieve higher levels of thinking.
