Haptic Fidelity and Task Repetition on Task Load and Performance in a Virtual Reality Simulation

Mon, Oct 16, 10:00 to 10:50am EDT (10:00 to 10:50am EDT), Doubletree Main Conference Center - Universal, Universal E1

Short Description

This study examined how the levels of haptic fidelity of controllers (high, mid, low–hand tools) and task repetitions (four tasks) influence undergraduate students' perceived task load and performance in an immersive Virtual Reality (VR)-based hand tool simulation. Thirty-six healthy undergraduate male students participated in the study and completed screw-driving tasks. The results of a one-way repeated MANOVA indicated that two dimensions of task load were significantly different among the haptic fidelity conditions.
