Effects of Nudges by Visualization of Others’ Note-Taking on In-Class Learning Behavior

Tue, Oct 17, 10:00 to 10:50am EDT (10:00 to 10:50am EDT), Doubletree Main Conference Center - Seminole, Gold Coast IV

Short Description

This study evaluated that visualizing others’ note-taking by the NoTAS system can improve learning behavior in class. The note-taking log showed NoTAS visualization did not cause learners to write according to the teacher’s expectations. However, the correlation analysis results demonstrated that the visualization types had varied effects on learning strategies. In particular, visualizing important elements directly promoted note-taking, whereas visualizing notes and unclear elements promoted listening to the teacher’s explanation and reading the material.
