Teaching Modality and Social Presence in a Safety Training Simulation using 360 Spherical Virtual Reality

Short Description

This study examined the effect of 360 Spherical Virtual Reality (SVR) on students’ perceptions of social presence in a safety training simulation. A total of 48 college students were randomly assigned into three study groups with three different 360 SVR views. The contrast analysis showed that participants perceived significantly higher social presence when only the instructor was viewed in 360 SVR video. With this finding, the implications to design 360 SVR will be further discussed.
