This study examined the effect of AR-based historical learning applications on students’ satisfaction and competency. 14 high school students participated in history class with the AR-based lesson. Students’ satisfaction showed significantly higher than the average satisfaction on the previous study. The results of students’ competency, however, did not show a significant difference between pre-post perceptions. Thus, the design of the lesson could be more important on competency improvement than applying new technology.
