Engaging Socioeconomically and Culturally Diverse Learners in Today’s (Post) ‘Pandemic Pedagogy’ Era: Five Key Theoretical Perspectives

Tue, Oct 17, 7:00 to 7:50am EDT (7:00 to 7:50am EDT), AECT Virtual Sessions, Zoom Room 12

Short Description

This presentation discusses five theoretical perspectives/lenses that can help us understand how to better engage socioeconomically and culturally diverse learners within the hybrid/multiple-modality instructional contexts that represent the new normal in today’s (post) ‘pandemic pedagogy’ era, as we pursue our praxis in the face of periodically emerging new variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. These lenses include: (1) Context analysis; (2) Cognitive load theory; (3) Social constructivism; (4) Distal/proximal factors theory; and (5) Communication configurations theory.
