This paper details a formative evaluation as part of a joint effort between a major university and a leading publishing company in optimizing the learning experience of an online review course. The study was conducted across two phases using multiple user experience and learning experience design methods. Findings from both phases revealed that although the current learning management system is able to foster user engagement, issues related to usability present challenges for an optimal learning experience.
