Theories Guiding Design of Online Professional Development: An Integrative Literature Review

This integrative literature review brings together concepts, frameworks, theories, and practices associated with designing or enacting online teacher professional development (oTPD) from four disciplinary fields. A conceptual framework generated as part of this review could inform design and redesign of online instruction in various contexts. Findings include: (a) designing oTPD survey of literature, (b) review of theories and practices relevant in designing oTPD, and (c) theoretical orientation supporting effective oTPD designs.
