Investigating the Self-Directed Learning Process in Argentine Tango Learning

Mon, Oct 16, 2:30 to 3:20pm EDT (2:30 to 3:20pm EDT), Doubletree Main Conference Center - Seminole, Sun & Surf IV

Short Description

The mixed-method study revealed how amateur dancers use self-directed learning strategies to learn the Argentine tango. The survey was collected from 351 tango dancers with 12 individual interviews conducted. The results suggested that challenging tasks are strong motivators for learning that trigger self-management of partnership-based resources, while one-to-one feedback is both a self-management resource and a self-monitoring tool. The findings will inform strategies to establish general self-efficacy and overcome learning challenges across learning contexts.
