Emergency remote teaching (ERT) allows higher education institutions to continue teaching and learning during the pandemic but also engenders novel challenges for online instructors to fulfill their roles of meeting students’ needs. This qualitative case study tapped into higher education instructors’ experience with ERT and their needs for fulfilling their roles. This study established knowledge bases about strategies and resources supplementing online instructors’ roles during ERT and provided insights into maintaining high-quality online education.
