The Changing Patterns of Learners’ Behavior and the Association with Motivation and Cognitive Engagement in Online Learning

Short Description

This study examined learners’ behavioral engagement traced by learning analytics in a LMS. We used K-means cluster technique to explore the group of learners at the first and second half semester. We found four clusters and associated the changing pattern with students’ motivation and learning strategies. The results suggested that there was a complex changing pattern of clusters over time and it was associated with the use of deep and shallow strategies.
