Short Description

Since the advent of smartphones and app stores in the late 1990s, foreign language teaching and learning have revolutionarily transformed. Mobile-assisted language learning (MALL) has emerged as a new focus of second language acquisition, with an emphasis on vocabulary learning apps. However, current apps tend to only provide drill-practice input, neglecting the development of productive skills. This presentation demonstrates and output-oriented Chinese vocabulary learning apps, with discussion of the framework for the design and evaluation.
