Using the Culturally Sustaining Instructional Design model, a qualitative multiple case study will review the culturally sustaining instructional strategies that designers-by-assignment, who are academic program directors in higher education student services, use in online learning environments for their diverse students, and why they believe these strategies are the most effective to use for their diverse student population. Implications and recommendations are given for higher education designers who aspire to design inclusive online learning environments.
