A Correlation Analysis of Evidence-Centered Computational Thinking Behaviors from Two Subjects Over One Year

Mon, Oct 16, 3:30 to 4:20pm EDT (3:30 to 4:20pm EDT), Doubletree Main Conference Center - Seminole, Sun & Surf III

Short Description

This presentation reports a step in an ongoing validity and feasibility study of an evidence-centered model for computational thinking (CT). Video recordings were made of two participants engaging in multiple problem-solving sessions longitudinally. Videos were then coded using an evidence-centered competency model and analyzed using Pearson’s correlation coefficient. Promising results included expected correlations among many CT dimensions, but unexpectedly, of the core competencies only algorithmic thinking correlated with dispositions.
