Investigating 21st-Century Skills Learning in an Informal Learning Environment

Mon, Oct 16, 10:00 to 10:50am EDT (10:00 to 10:50am EDT), Doubletree Main Conference Center - Seminole, Gold Coast IV

Short Description

As 21st-century skills (21CS) become increasingly important, their relative absence in formal education becomes increasingly worrisome. This study qualitatively explores the 21CS learning process of summer camp interns through field notes and interviews. In this session, you will see how an informal learning environment with a 21CS curriculum provides data-rich opportunities to explore the instruction of these crucial skills. The emergent themes of this research and its implications are relevant to 21CS assessment and curricula.
