Application of Qualitative Synthesis in Education

Short Description

This study aimed to examine the current state of qualitative synthesis research in education. First, we summarized the commonly applied qualitative synthesis methods in education (i.e., meta-ethnography, formal grounded theory, thematic synthesis, and meta-aggregation). We then reviewed a sample of 26 qualitative syntheses conducted in education. The results showed that the application of qualitative synthesis varied in educational research. Recommendations to enhance its methodological development and application in educational research will be discussed.
