This poster showcases two frameworks that help foster student contributions in asynchronous online discussions (AODs). When students contribute little, the value and affordances of AODs decrease for all peers. One framework shows the way in which "curious" prompts were created. The other shows the process of content analysis by which the postings were classified as content-low (surface learning) or content high (deep learning). Curiosity enhances information seeking, which allows for more content-high content within student postings.
