International students from non-Western cultures often encounter deep tensions in their online learning experiences. In this auto-ethnographic study, we came together as a team with the shared goal of developing more equitable and inclusive online learning environments through building empirical understanding of international students’ cultural experiences in online learning. For this study, we share findings on language, sense of belonging, and differences of educational system and tradition, which has implications for both instructors and administrators.
