School Leaders’ Perspectives on State-Mandated Computer Science Education in Hawaiʻi

Mon, Oct 16, 10:00 to 10:50am EDT (10:00 to 10:50am EDT), Doubletree Main Conference Center - Seminole, Sun & Surf II

Short Description

This presentation shares the results of a mixed methods study examining how school leaders are reacting to “one size fits all” legislation requiring schools in Hawai'i to offer Computer Science courses to all students. The study used the Concerns-Based Adoption Model to understand how legislation is impacting schools and school leaders in different and important ways. The presentation will be relevant to anyone interested in Computer Science education, school leadership, and the challenges of adopting new policies.
