Text Types, Fluency, and DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills): What Impacts Comprehension?

Abstract

This research examines the relationship among (1) processing behaviors--e.g., accuracy, speed, number of miscues, impact of miscues on meaning, number of corrected and uncorrected miscues, (2) DIBELS scores, (3) QRI scores, and (4) the comprehension of clauses and main ideas. Both narrative and expository texts were read and retold by proficient fourth grade students.
