The ethnic diversity of students enrolled in Texas public middle schools and the ethnic diversity of teachers employed at Texas public middle schools were analyzed for the past 11 school years. Following data downloads, the percentage of students who were Hispanic, Black, or White and the percentage of teachers who were Hispanic, Black, or White was calculated. Increases were present in the percentage of Hispanic students and in the percentage of Hispanic teachers. Little change was present in either Black student enrollment or in Black teacher employment, whereas the percentage of White student enrollment and White teacher employment decreased. Although gains were made toward increasing the percentages of minority teachers, Texas public middle schools are staffed overwhelmingly by White teachers.
