Fri, April 13, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Vancouver Convention Centre, Floor: First Level, East Ballroom A

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to understand the roles that faculty members play in change processes in one unit of higher education—the College or School of Education—by examining faculty roles at three institutions involved in the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate, a collaboration of twenty-five institutions that considers the ways to define and develop a new professional practice doctorate that will produce highly-qualified practitioners to serve our nation’s education system. More specifically, this paper investigates how three faculty members from three different institutions operating in a change agent capacity, described and understood their role in this process.
