Mon, April 16, 8:15 to 9:45am, Pan Pacific, Floor: Restaurant Level, Pacific Rim 1

Abstract

In view of the need to proceed to a ‘research-oriented professional teacher’ and the reported complexities of this endeavor, this paper aims to outline the profile of Cypriot secondary schoolteachers towards research-related activities. Hence, this study sets out to indicate the extent of these teachers’ involvement (current status and future intentions) in research related activities outside the context of requirements of academic studies. Secondarily, on the basis of the outcomes and in an effort to initiate and support teachers’ involvement in research, the study further aims to draw links to professional development by discussing measures to facilitate the transition towards a more research-oriented teacher.
