Previous literature reviews identified transition education services and practices associated with positive post-high outcomes. Because the IEPs of transition-aged youth need to include annual transition goals, we wanted to expand the literature by identifying and clustering student behaviors that quantitative and qualitative research identified as being associated with postschool success. The literature review first yielded 77 studies, which inclusion and exclusion criteria reduced to 46 studies. From an analysis of these studies, the research team determined by consensus 10 constructs and 75 associated research-based or conceptual behaviors. Educators can use these identified behaviors to develop annual transition goals. The results will enable policymakers to infuse essential behaviors and experiences into anchor core standards that truly reflect college and career readiness.
