Mon, April 16, 8:15 to 9:45am, Vancouver Convention Centre, Floor: Second Level, East Room 10

Abstract

This qualitative study explored the lived experiences of ten teacher leaders in the formal roles of mentor or instructional coach in K-12 school districts in a cross-case design. Data were collected through a sequence of phenomenologically-oriented interviews with each participant. Data analysis followed a constant comparative approach and resulted in six major themes about the perspectives and lived experiences of these teacher leaders. Portraiture was utilized as a model for presenting the findings. Implications include sustainable ways of tapping into the strengths and talents of current and future teacher leaders.
