Transitions: Narratives of Transitional Experiences of Nontraditional Female Students Upon Their Return to the University

Abstract

This study was designed for the purpose of extending present understandings of how nontraditional undergraduate and graduate female students negotiate the transition of returning to the university. The study is also designed to extend present understandings about the nature of female life transitions. Through the use of narrative inquiry, the stories of eight study participants are analyzed. Outcomes of the study may be used to strengthen university support services for nontraditional female students and to influence public policy.
