Abstract

Using an international education database, TIMSS, this study investigates fourth grade mathematics teachers’ arrangement for homework among five countries. In each country, the study compares math teachers’ homework assigns, kinds, and follow-up activities, analyzes relationships of the arrangement for homework with teachers’ educational level and years of teaching, and explored math teachers’ arrangement for homework between their genders, and predicts students’ math achievement by teachers’ math homework arrangement. Research results suggest that well-designed homework is beneficial to students’ math learning.
