The purpose of this mixed method study is to document (a) processes of teaching and learning of mindfulness within a mindfulness-based professional development (PD) program for stress reduction among teachers; and (b) examples of teachers’ transfer of skills learned in the PD context to the classroom. Survey results showed 16 teachers in the program reported increases in mindfulness over time. HD recordings were made of (a) all PD sessions in order to identify speech acts on the part of the PD instructor that scaffolded the development of mindfulness skills among participants; and (b) of classroom lessons of four teachers before and after the PD program in order to identify examples of transfer to the classroom. Data analyses are on-going.
