This paper provides an overview of the validation of the Inventory of Teacher Technology Skills (ITTS). The purpose of this tool is to help districts evaluate teachers’ technology literacy for No Child Left Behind reporting requirements and provide an objective measure for targeting teachers’ professional development needs. The focus of the validation project with Florida teachers (N=391) was the correlation of results of the ITTS with results from a self-assessment technology competency and attitudes survey. In addition, the functioning of the items on the ITTS was examined. ITTS was found to be a somewhat valid instrument. The reliability estimate for scores on the entire tool is .71; however, at the subsection level, score reliability estimates range from .26 to. 60.
