Employees are supposed to participate competently in decisions in their daily working routines. Thus, it becomes important that employees perceive support in acquiring appropriate competences and in applying them in daily work. Efforts of personnel and organisational development aim at supporting the acquisition of individual competences. As workforces tend to become older, the issue of training and developing workers of every age becomes relevant, especially against the background that educational economists claim higher return-of-invest for younger workers. This contribution reports an exemplary study of 89 plant operators. No hints are to be found that older workers perceive less worklpace learning support than younger workers.
