A Professor’s Role in Applying Action Research to Support Collaboration Among Graduate Students

Abstract

This study applied an action research methodology to explore how a professor can model action research and support graduate students as they conduct their own group based action research projects. There were three iterations of plan, act, observe, and reflect throughout this study, which allowed the researcher to illustrate the process of action research to the students and focus on the results that best supported the students. The study resulted in specific forms of procedural support and multiple avenues for student development through the process of collaboration. This study is significant as a means to understand how we can support future teachers through the process of action research and collaboration.
