LeaderPAR: A Participatory Action Research Framework for School Improvement

Abstract

This paper will explore a framework for school improvement that builds on the current focus on school-based inquiry and distributed leadership while extending these notions though a participatory action research (PAR) framework. We will explore the key characteristics of PAR, as well as key characteristics of democratic leadership approaches in order to develop a framework for school improvement that might guide research and practice.
