Paper Summary

Research as Provocation With Teacher Candidates: Participatory, Film-Based Methodology and Educational Space

Fri, April 13, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Vancouver Convention Centre, Floor: First Level, East Ballroom C

Abstract

This presentation will explore the possibilities of participatory film-based methodology in the study of secondary visual art teacher candidates’ experience with K-12 educational space. Film-based, participatory methodologies are uniquely positioned to engage and express participants’ inquiry into the complex interrelationships of memory, identity, and educational space as they relate to their perception of practice. This session will explore the use of film as a methodology to inquire into the corporeal and synaesthetic experience that provokes further understanding of memory, identity, and educational space as they relate to teacher practice.
