The Effects of Common Planning on Teacher Efficacy in High Schools Implementing Professional Learning Communities

Abstract

This paper presents the results of a mixed-methods analysis of the research on professional learning communities and teacher efficacy. Teacher Sense of Efficacy Survey was used as a survey and statistics using a T-test were performed. The qualitative method used interviews with two-leading questions and an open format. The research reviewed was that presented in publications of books, articles and extensively designed doctoral dissertations. Preliminary results show moderate to large effect sizes for components of professional learning communities and of subscales of components of teacher efficacy.
