Using Parenting Style and Cultural Orientation to Discriminate Between Adolescent Groups Involved in Bullying

Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to examine the association between parenting, cultural values orientation and bullying. Discriminant analysis was employed to allow for a more detailed understanding of how parenting style and cultural values discriminate between groups of adolescents who are involved in bullying as bullies, victims, and bully-victims, as well as how they differ from those who do not exhibit such behaviors. The participants (N= 231) were early adolescents who completed three survey questionnaires. Our analysis re-examines parenting styles differences among the various groups of adolescents, and suggests new discriminating features with respect to cultural values.
