A Qualitative Study of the Ethno-Racial Identities of Minority Immigrant College Students

Abstract

By adopting Phinney’s conceptualization of ethnicity by encompassing race and racial identity within the construct of ethnicity, this study examines the racial/ethnic identity development of minority immigrant students at a predominantly white institution and investigate the challenge of (re)establishing their identities, and to better understand the complexity of racial/ethnic identity formation as it intersects with class, gender, and immigration status.
