In this study the effects of a classroom management skills training for trainee teachers are investigated on two levels, a knowledge level and a cognitive-behavioral level. Participants (N=144) were either assigned to an intervention group which received a classroom management skills training, or to a control group 1 which received a more general stress management training, or to a wait control group 2. Intervention effects on the knowledge level were assessed with a treatment check. Effects on the cognitive-behavioral level are to be determined later by assessing stress indicators and indicators for classroom management. As expected a significant intervention effect (d=3.11) was found on the knowledge level. Thus significant intervention effects on the cognitive-behavioral level are expected.
