Abstract

In this paper, the editor of the volume, Leaders in the History of American Education: Autobiographical Essays, will discuss the genesis of the project and how it was carried out. Inviting the participants, responses, and the choice of authors for the Foreword and Afterword will also be discussed. The editor will also emphasize issues such as quantitative/qualitative methods, ethnicity, class, race,and gender, and regional focus and representation in the conbtibutions and contributors. He will also briefly discuss his own contribution to the volume.
