Abstract

“Drowning in data” is a familiar expression for qualitative researchers who have completed the data gathering phase of research. Generating findings from the data, however, is not a clear cut process. In much of the writing up of qualitative research projects, the focus on methods and findings do little to illuminate the processes of data analysis beyond a cursory nod to coding and generation of themes. This paper utilizes two studies, an interview study and an auto-ethrography, in order to showcase the different ways in which analyses can be approached and made transparent.
