IDEA 2004 mandates that all students with disabilities have involvement in the general education curriculum. As a result general education teachers must plan on almost one quarter of their class to be composed of students with disabilities (U.S. Department of Education Institute of Education Sciences, 2008). The special education teachers’ role has also changed due to the need to provide service to students within a general education setting. To meet the needs of inclusive classrooms the collaboration of a general and special education teacher has emerged, entitled co-teaching. Using a pre and post survey method this study investigates the general and special education teachers’ perceived efficacy after a year of co-teaching.
