Sat, April 14, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Vancouver Convention Centre, Floor: First Level, East Ballroom B

Abstract

The focus of this case study was on developmental work initiated by classroom teachers in a primary school. Their co-operation started when two of them came back from a course on children’s mathematical thinking and were inspired to use their knowledge from the course in their teaching. Through constant discussions and reflections on their students’ solution strategies and reflection on their teaching, the teachers built a community of inquiry where they developed their understanding of their students’ learning and managed to create classroom cultures that promoted learning.
