Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the social networks of Latino/a community college transfer students as they transition into a four-year university. This study utilizes pre-transfer and post-transfer surveys to collect data on whom students relied on for advice and information about the transfer process. Results indicate students were most likely to rely on family and friends, but that Latino/a students were more likely to rely on institutional staff than faculty for help in the process.
