Are conditions of teaching stressful? Most of us who are involved in the educational field know the answer to this question. The “conditions” that can affect professors emotionally and physically are usually endless and tend to be related to different life areas; however, “teachers have consistently cited work overload as a major stressor in their job” (Byrne, 1999, p. 23). The intention of this paper is to present the stress producers and stress levels, according to professors’ own perceptions, as well as the coping mechanisms they use. For this study, gender, age, and marital status were considered. The author expects to show the results obtained in different years (2010 and 2011) for comparison.
