Sensitivity of Anchor Designs on Scaling and Proficiency Classifications in the Rasch Model

Abstract

The state growth and accountability models require compatibility of the theta scale for year-to-year comparison of student scores over administrations. However, the scale and resulting theta values can be sensitive to anchor designs impacting score comparability. This study evaluates the impact of four different anchor designs on scaling and student performance in the large-scale Language Arts Literacy assessments. The results from this study will provide insights for Psychometricians and test developers on anchor design for maintaining scale stability.
