Abstract

This paper describes the first phase of a design-based research project that seeks to develop an intervention using learning analytics for an undergraduate engineering mentoring program. Using near real-time data from a university’s learning management system, we examined patterns in students’ use of the university’s learning management system, developed data visualizations, and examined mentors’ use of visualizations. Initial findings and implications for learning analytics research are discussed.
