Mon, April 16, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Vancouver Convention Centre, Floor: Second Level, East Room 9

Abstract

In response to the need to increase the capacities of SEAs to provide greater support to the districts and schools in their states, the Center on Innovation and Improvement (CII) developed an Academy of Pacesetting States. The Academy was a 2-year experience for 9 state teams to develop their statewide system of support to districts and schools, consisting of five days of intensive on-site instruction followed by two years of distance learning and monthly telephone calls for implementation and monitoring. The purpose of this submission is to study how successful the states involved in the process were in improving their system of support and subsequently informing improved school development in their states.
